Mrs. Carrie Lampkin Clark

Mrs. Carrie Lampkin Clark was born September 7, 1956 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to the late James
and Irene Lampkin. She was one of seven girls and three boys joined to this union.
Carrie dedicated her life to Christ at a young age and grew up attending New Bethel Missionary Bap-
tist Church before becoming a member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She had an excep-
tional affinity for helping those with mental illness, those with special needs, and those less fortu-
nate...and she often opened her doors to accommodate their needs.
Mrs. Clark was an ardent fisherwoman who often stayed out on the banks from dawn until dusk. If
the weather was right, the fishing poles, coolers, and minnows were loaded in the car at the crack of
dawn. The devoted grandmother also enjoyed gardening and growing her own food.
Carrie became a mother to Thurrell Lampkin at a young age. Then subsequently, to Carrissa, Natasha
Lynn, and Francho. In her fifties, Mrs. Clark went back to school, graduating and earning an Associ-
ates degree from Coahoma Community College.
She is preceded in death by her children—Carrissa Butler and Francho Lampkin; sisters—Carolyn, Flo-
ra, and Lavern; and parents—James and Irene Lampkin.
Left to cherish her memories are husband—Ike; her son—Thurrell Lampkin; daughter—Natasha Lynn
Lampkin; grandchildren—Cordale, Junior, Marquan, Mashean, Ashley, Lee, Raven, Kirsten, Angel, Ja-
son, and Julie; special niece—Caroletta; brothers—James, Charlie and Mike; sisters—Dorothy, Ruby,
and Essie; and a host of great grandchildren, loving relatives, special fishing acquaintances, countless
friends, and helpful neighbors.
I've finished life’s chores assigned to me,
so put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole,
for I’ve been invited to the “fishin’ hole”.
Where every day is a day to fish…
to fill your heart with every wish.
Don’t worry or feel sad for me.
I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea.
We will miss each other for awhile,
but you will come and bring your smile.
That won’t be long, you will see, ‘til we’re together: you and me.
To all of those that think of me, be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I’ missin’...just tell ‘em
I’VE GONE FISHIN’

To My Grandchildren: There are no words to express the love I have for each of you. I
know my transition has taken you all by surprise. For that and for the hurt you feel
right now, I am sorry. The journey wasn’t easy, but you all kept a brave face and held
back tears with each hospital visit. For the tears to come, be sure to replace them with
smiles and laughter as you remember the good times we shared. Fishing trips, big Sun-
day meals, holidays, birthdays, parks, and car rides to grab junk food. For over a month
I fought as hard as I could...hoping to grow old watching you all live out your lives. But
God had other plans. And my body was exhausted! Please continue to make me
proud. Get an education. Find a career you’re passionate about. Practice good man-
ners. Be kind, respectful, honest, and compassionate about the world around you.
I L O V E Y O U A L L !
